Can I home school my MR son with no education?
Question by jaykes mom: Can I home school my MR son with no education?
My son is 10yrs blind autistic and severly MR. He is still in diapers and doesn’t talk. The school system isn’t big enough 2 provide for him. He is the only MR child in the whole school. I teach him more at home than they ever can or will…got any ideas?

as long as you educate yourself–yes
but in the US–teh school can’t say taht tehya re not big enough ad he is teh only one..
they need to bring in teh resources–either send him to anotehr school where there is a class–or hire another teacher or even provide a teacher and therapists to provide home instructiosn
they should be workign on a communictaion system–wither sign or a 3D type PECs board–where you hgave a communictaion box with basic objects that represent food, drink, play, bed…he would hand you teh object to represent what he wants…..
the school is responsibile to provide the services–if their current class can’t do it–than they need to change tehmselves

The school will typically buy into the services that he needs in a different district – but they are required to do so.
If you want to Home School – you need to contact the school and ask what forms you need to fill out and how your sons progress will be monitored.

You answered your own question. You will do better than any public school. There is too much corruption in public schools, especially special ed. Stay away!!
