Do you know that you are qualified to home-school simply because you are the parent?

There are many educational resources available to parents and students. Check your State laws through www.hslda.org.

My roommate was home schooled. It made it a lot harder for her to get into college.

Home schooling can be good, but it can also be detrimental to a child (just like public school). I think it is beneficial to a student to attend public school and learn to deal with different teachers.

Yes, that right. But you do need to check with your State laws. But did you know that you can get a “religious exemption” and the school board can’t refuse you because of religious beliefs. HSLDA has legal info on their site for info.

As far as it harder to get into college, this is not true. My 22 yr old son was homeschooled and graduated at 16 1/2 with a 4.0 gpa. In got into college easily, then only thing he had to do because he was only 16, we had to go to the school board & show is grades/transscript & they approved him to start college early.

I’ve heard good things about these programs. They’re K-12.

Imagine Academy, The Jubilee Academy, The Grace Academy, and The MorningStar Academy are all great programs. Imagine offers individual courses, Jubilee offers full online homeschooling curriculum, Grace offers full teacher-supported online homeschooling curriculum, and MorningStar is an online private school.

YES! Parents teach their children to walk and talk before they even see the inside of a nursery or preschool classroom, so why would they not be qualified and capable of teaching their children academics?

That’s not the question though. The question is whether the parent wants and is able to dedicate that time to schooling their children 24/7 AND if the children will benefit from being home educated instead of sent to learn with other children in a formal classroom. It depends on the family.

http://www.hslda.org is a great starting point and resource for those who want to homeschool, thanks for sharing with others.
