I am in need of some online, printable, 8th grade material for home school. I have searched the web for hours only to find sites that are not very helpful.

Most of 8th grade curriculum isn’t in worksheet form to find printable. The focus is on a lot of textbooks. You can easily do a curriculum for free though. My suggestion would be to start at the library. Ours has a “homework center” but it truly is a Mecca of texts and workbooks. You can easily find books about conducting basic equipment-required science experiments. You can find various books on individual topics as well. A lot of times there are stores inside of the libraries that sell old textbooks for a buck or two. I’ve even had some luck at Salvation Army!

You are right on target about the propaganda of the media. You have to take everything they say with a big grain of scepticism.
