I don’t know of anywhere you can get free books, but you can find free worksheets, games, lesson plans etc all online.
Programs such as Ambleside use a lot of books that can be found at the library.

Most of us have no idea what’s really going on inside our heads. Yet brain scientists have uncovered details every business leader, parent, and teacher should know–such as the brain’s need for physical activity to work at its best. How do we learn? What exactly do sleep and stress do to our brains? Why is multi-tasking a myth? Why is it so easy to forget–and so important to repeat new information? Is it true that men and women have different brains? In Brain Rules, molecular biologist Dr. John Medina shares his lifelong interest in how the brain sciences might influence the way we teach our children and the way we work. Hi,

I run a homeschool resource center in Phoenix, AZ with new and used curriculum.

Although our materials are not free (we don’t get any government funding), we have TERRIFIC prices and a great sale during October to bring the prices to the lowest level possible. Depending on what you get, we could set you up with a whole grade level for $50-$100 or less.

Please check out our website to see the discounts we are offering from now until October 31. http://www.chsrc.org/Bookstore/specialsB.htm

We are able to mail anywhere in the US for a minimal shipping charge.

Feel free to email me at: info @ chsrc.org ( take the spaces out)

Thanks,

Holly Craw

We have a high school aged child and we find books at Half Priced Books or Books a Million for very cheap. Check out used book stores or teacher supply stores. Also, half.com usually has curriculum at fairly cheap prices. Borders book stores allow you to get 20% off if you are buying the books for your student/ school. They have the books in the parenting section I believe.
If you find a home schooling group nearby they may be able to loan you books or trade books for babysitting services, errand running, etc.
Google “free homeschool curriculum” and see what pops up.
Use library books whenever possible to cut down on money spent for reading books.

Good luck!
